Ben Folds Five - Whatever And Ever Amen

Our football team had just won their first premiership ever that afternoon, my brother’s band were supporting Ben Folds Five the same night and then to top it all off we met Ben Folds backstage before the jig !  The best day of my life ! Second only to my wedding day (of course) … hi honey ?

We were waiting with my brothers band out back of the Theb Theatre for the gig to start and Ben Folds himself walks past -  Cool !  We said g’day and he came over for a chat.  This was their first ever tour to our city but we were fans already.  My honey got all three members to sign her Ben Folds Five T-shirt backstage … while she was wearing it !

It was time for the music to begin so we wandered out front and listened to my brother’s support band get the crowd ready for the main event.  And then Ben Folds was there on stage, my brother and honey beside me, and we where all signing along to their quirky songs.

The clincher was when Ben Folds said “Go Crows !” just as we had told him to do when chatting backstage before the gig and the crowd erupted in celebration of our city’s first ever national football premiership - Gold.  This was the most fun we had ever had in just one day.

Whatever and ever amen.
